abstract A solar cell including a semiconductor substrate, a doping layer, a quantum well layer, a first passivation layer, a second passivation layer, at least a first electrode and at least a second electrode. The semiconductor substrate has a front surface and a back surface, and the front surface has nano-rods thereon. The doping layer covers the surface of the nano-rods. The quantum well layer is on the semiconductor substrate, and the quantum well layer has at least first doping region and at least a second doping region. The quantum well layer includes Si1-xGex. The first passivation layer covers the first doping region of the quantum well layer, and the second passivation layer covers the second doping region of the quantum well layer. The first electrode and the second electrode are electrically connected to the first doping region and the second doping region of the quantum well layer, respectively.
