The invention provides a metal complex pigment having high conversion efficiency and excellent durability, a photoelectric conversion element, and a phototelectrochemical cell using the metal complex pigment. The metal complex pigment contains a ligand LLl represented by the formula (1). In formula (I), R1 and R2 represent a bivalent group represented by formula (II), etc. L1 and L2 represent a single bond or an ethenylene group, etc. R3 and R4 represent a hydrogen atom or a alkyl group. R' and R'' represent a substituent. A1 and A2 represent an acid group or a group containing an acid group, n1 and n2 represent an integer of 0 to 3, and n3 and n4 represent an integer of 0 to 3. In formulas (II) to (XX), B1 to B37 represent a sulfur atom, etc. R5 to R57 represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, etc., and m1 to m19 represent an integer of 1 to 5. Here the left bonds of formulas (II) to (XX) are positioned at the L1 or L2 side of formula (I), and bonded to the pyridine ring directly or through L1 or L2. |
