abstract | The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polyester film having sufficiently superior thermal dimensional stability, resistance to thermal deformation and improved thermal strength stability and a method for producing the same. The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented polyester film containing a polyester resin formed by polycondensation of an alcohol component that contains a diol compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein, ring A is either a cyclohexane ring or a benzene ring; n1 is an integer of 0 - 4; and R1 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl group) and a carboxylic acid component containing a dicarboxylic acid compound represented by general formula (II) (wherein, ring type B is the other of the cyclohexane ring or benzene ring; n2 is an integer of 0 - 4; R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and R3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group), wherein the coefficient of thermal expansion of the polyester film when the temperature is raised from 50 DEG C to 100 DEG C is 50 ppm/ DEG C or less, and the absolute value for the rate of contraction at 150 DEG C is less than 2.0%. The present invention further relates to a method for producing the polyester film wherein a precursor film containing the polyester resin is produced, and thereafter, a heat treatment step that contains at least a biaxial drawing process is carried out on this precursor film. |
