abstract | This invention provides a method for forming a sealing film by which a highly moisture-transmission resistant sealing film can be formed at lower cost and in shorter time compared with prior art. In a sealing film forming method for forming a sealing film 13 adapted to seal an organic EL device 12, a first inorganic layer 13a is first formed on the surface of the organic EL device 12, and then a hydrocarbon layer 13c is formed on the first inorganic layer 13a. The hydrocarbon layer 13c is flattened by softening or melting it, and hardened. After the hydrocarbon layer 13c is hardened, a second inorganic layer 13e thicker than the first inorganic layer 13a is further formed on the hydrocarbon layer 13c. |
