abstract | Abstract -The spent fuel pool of a nuclear power plant is nearly full and its Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) project cannot be ready in time. The licensed spent fuel storage canister design of the ISFSI is modified into a transfer canister for the inter-unit spent fuel transfer (IUSFT). The design modifications include a top closured lid and its seal of the storage canister, a new neutron absorber material, an impact limiter and a transfer protection system of the transfer cask. A series of safety analysis have been done including structure, thermal, criticality, and shielding. The IUSFT project and its associated components are intended to complete the spent fuel transfer safely and efficiently. |
