abstract | The present invention provides a β -Sialon capable of carrying out high luminescent peak strength, a light emitting device, and a method for producing the β -Sialon. The β -Sialon comprises Eu2+ that is present in a solid solution form in β -Sialon represented by Si6-zAlzOzN8-z and its variable coefficient of characteristic X rays intensity distribution of Al is 26% or less. The method for producing the β -Sialon that its variable coefficient of characteristic X rays intensity distribution of Al is 26% or less comprises: a firing step that has mixtures of an oxide, a silicon nitride and an aluminum nitride, further addition of europium compounds and a heating in a nitrogen atmosphere; a smashing step of smashing the obtained sintered product; an annealing step of heating the smashed sintered product in a rare gas atmosphere or a vacuum atmosphere; an acid treating step of acid treating the smashed sintered product; and a hydraulic step of removing micro powder. |
