It is an object of the present invention to provide an inorganic-organic hybrid material which can realize an optical material having both of flexibility and a high refractive index which are usually directly-opposed function, a low degree of yellowing and a high degree of transparency. The present invention relates to an inorganic-organic hybrid material which comprises an inorganic material and an organic material, has a content of the inorganic material of 20 to 80% by mass and a refractive index of 1.60 or higher, wherein, when preparing a strip specimen having a thickness of 1, 000 μ m, a width of 5mm and length of 70mm by using the inorganic-organic hybrid material, and winding the specimen by 180 DEG on a columnar metal bar having a diameter of 10mm at 25 DEG C, the specimen does not crack. It also relates to an inorganic-organic composite composition comprising: a radiation-curable monomer, inorganic particles having a crystallite diameter of 1 to 10nm as calculated from a half-value width of a crystalline peak as observed by X-ray diffraction analysis; and a sulfur-containing organic compound, wherein the curable monomer comprises a monofunctional radiation-curable monomer and a multifunctional radiation-curable monomer, and the composition contains 1.5 to 10% by mass of the sulfur-containing organic compound in terms of sulfur atoms. |
