abstract This invention discloses a zwitterionic hydrogel-PAC, which has the following chemical structure: Wherein R3 is H or alkali metal, R2 is COOR4, R4 is H or alkali metal, m or n is an integer ranging from 10 to 100. Addition of PAC hydrogel in mortars could lower the water loss and retain more water inside mortars. Furthermore, addition of PAC hydrogel in cementitious materials such as cement pastes, mortars, and concretes, could also reduce shrinkage and crack formation, that improve the durability of the resulting materials. Therefore, PAC hydrogel is a good self-curing agent for concrete.
