abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a polishing tape having substantially no fine free polishing particles and a method for producing the same with a simple producing apparatus and a simple producing process. Such a polishing tape of the present invention is produced by a step (1) of forming, on a first main surface of a base material having the first main surface and a second main surface, a plural polishing layers with spaces therebetween to obtain a polishing tape aggregate (body) and a step (2) of slitting the polishing tape aggregate only at the spaces on the base material without contacting the polishing layers to obtain a polishing tape(s).
