abstract A method for manufacturing a large area solar cell includes following steps: forming a plurality of semiconductor nanotubes on a surface of a metal substrate to serve as an electron-transmitting layer by using an electrochemical mold and imposing an applied power, wherein the metal substrate with the electron-transmitting layer formed thereon serves as an anode of the large area solar cell; baking the nanotubes at a first temperature; treating and crystallizing the nanotubes at a second temperature; removing a dense layer at the orifices of the nanotubes; making semiconductor nanoparticles adhere to the interior of the nanotubes; adsorbing photosensitizer dyes on the walls of the nanotubes; forming a transparent conductive film on a transparent substrate, wherein the transparent substrate with the transparent conductive film formed thereon serves as an cathode of the large area solar cell; forming a catalyst layer on the cathode; assembling the anode and the cathode together using a plastic molecular film; and filling a hole-transmitting layer between the anode and the cathode, wherein the first temperature is lower than the second temperature.
