abstract The present invention provides a clay mineral with intercalated UV absorber and a cosmetic formulating therein the clay mineral. The clay mineral with intercalated UV absorber allows the UV absorber being formulated into the cosmetic formulation as a powder component of the cosmetic formulation, and effectively absorbs a wide range of UV light. In addition, the amount and strength of the intercalation for the clay mineral is excellent. The clay mineral with intercalated UV absorber of the present invention is characterized by a polybase and an anionic UV absorber being intercalated between layers of a water-sellable clay mineral. Preferably, the polybase is a polymer having a nitrogen-containing group that can be cationized; and the anionic UV absorber is 2-phenylbezimidazole-5-sulfonic acid or hydroxybenzophenone-5-sulfonic acid or sodium salts thereof.
