abstract | A β type SiAlON, as the β type SiAlON represented by Si6-zAlzOzN8-z that Eu2+ is solutioned into therein. The component z is 0.3 and more and 1.5 and less, peak wavelength of fluorescence spectra is 545 nm and more and 560 nm and less upon excitation of light of wavelength 450 nm, half-width is 55nm and more, and external quantum efficiency is 45% and more. In the way of z value to be 0.3 and more and 1.5 and less, combining one and more of oxide of alumina and silicon oxide, silicon nitride, and almuniun nitride, further combining europium compound, then via addition of constant amount of β type SiAlON powder having average particle diameter of 5 μ m and more and average circularity of 0.7 and more, then sintering, the β type SiAlON can be prepared. |
