abstract | Provided is a method for producing a ketomalonic acid compound or its hydrate, by teacting the malonic acid compound and at least 1 or 2 or more chlorous acid compound selected from chlorous acid or salt of chlorous acid to oxide the methylene group of malonic acid compound. This method needs neither high-toxicity reagent or reagent with low-safety, nor any special reaction agent, special reaction device, high-cost reagent, high-cost catalyst or transition metal such as noble metal etc., and can choose a gentle reaction condition to be able to produce ketomalonic acid compound, such as a diester of ketomalonic acid etc. easily and effectively, with good operability under a simple condition suitable for industrial use. |
