abstract The tin oxide particle of the invention is characterized in that it includes multiple types of tin having various valences from 2 to 4, which is substantially free from doped elements and is conductive. The method of manufacturing the tin oxide particle includes mixing alkali and an aqueous solution containing divalent tin to form a hydroxide compound of divalent tin. The method further includes oxidizing the hydroxide compound of the divalent tin in the solution into tin having a valence greater than 2 and below 4. Then, mixing the aqueous solution having the divalent tin with an alkali solution so that the pH is within a range of 1 to 7.
