abstract | The present invention relates to a method for making an unsaturated sultone of a specific structure and a cyclic sulfurous acid ester of a specific structure, more particularly, a method for making a cyclic sulfonic acid ester (sultone) with good efficiency at low cost. The method of this invention is capable of producing the cyclic sulfonic acid ester in an industrial scale stably. The method comprises a first step of obtaining a cyclic sulfurous acid ester by reacting a diol of a specific structure with a thionyl halide, and a second step of reacting the cyclic sulfurous acid ester with water or/and alcohol, to produce a hydroxysultone. The method further comprises a third step of obtaining an intermediate by reacting the hydroxysultone of a specific structure with an acid halide or an acid anhydried, and then treating the intermediate with a base. |
