abstract One kind of Ganoderma tsugae active substance, which is produced by processing Ganoderma tsugae with the following steps: (1) culture Ganoderma tsugae in liquid fermentation; (2) apply ethanol extraction to the resulting fermented filtrate to obtain ethanol extracted precipitates; (3) purify the ethanol extracted precipitates with gel filtration chromatography to obtain gel filtration chromatography substance; (4) extract the filtration chromatography substance with acetone to obtain the resulting supernatant liquid as the Ganoderma active substance. The present invention also provides a composition containing Ganoderma tsugae active substance produced by applying the above steps, wherein the composition can be used to induce or increase the nuclear transcription factor Nrf2, improve activity of anti-oxidation promoter fragment promoter (ARE promoter) and sulfur Redox protein promoter (TrxR promoter), as well as induce performance of the first type heme oxygenase (HO-1) and the first type sulfur redox protein (TrxR) so as to achieve effect of cell protection or atherosclerosis prevention.
