The current invention pertains to a method to produce RTX-toxins ApxI or ApxIII by culturing Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae bacteria in a liquid culturing medium that supports growth of the bacteria, characterised in that air is passed through the medium, wherein the air has a carbon dioxide content above normal atmospheric level to increase RTX-toxin production during the production phase of the RTX-toxins. |
