abstract | Disclosed is a process by which it is possible to purify iodine and/or an iodine compound simply and efficiently. The process includes a step (a), in which a liquid mixture containing iodine and/or an iodine compound and a metal belonging to groups 3A-6B of the periodic table is brought into contact with an amino acid; and a step (b), of separating the metal-amino acid mixture solidified by step (a), and the liquid fraction. The aforementioned liquid mixture in step (a) can be obtained by organic synthesis. In step (a) the metal can be precipitated together with the amino acid, and the pH can be adjusted to 7 or more. |
