abstract This invention provides a metal foil laminated polyimide resin substrate in which metal foils are directly laminated on one side or both sides of a polyimide resin substrate, characterized in that the side of the metal foil adhered to the polyimide resin substrate satisfies the following conditions; (a) its surface roughness (Rzjis) is less than 3.0 μ m, (b) when measuring a two-dimensional region having a surface area of 6550 μ m<SP>2</SP> by a laser method, the value of a surface area ratio (B), that is the ratio of the measured three-dimensional surface area (A μ m<SP>2</SP>) and the two-dimensional surface area (6550 μ m<SP>2</SP>) [A/6550], is between 1.25 to 2.50, and (c) it contains an amount of chromium more than 2.0 mg/m<SP>2</SP> per unit area of the two-dimensional area.
