abstract | The present invention provides a liquid carboxylic salt catalyst used for epoxy resin, having the following formula: where R1 is C1 to C10 alkyl, R2 is -CH2CH3 or -CH(CH3)2. The catalyst is the equimolecular mixture of a selected carboxylic acid and an organic amine. The present invention also provides an epoxy resin composition containing the catalyst, which contains 100 parts by weight of an epoxy resin, 10 to 80 parts by weight of a curing agent, 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of the catalyst. The catalyst of the present invention can be used in a wide range of epoxy formulations that requires normal curing characteristics but with long shelf life and long working life. |
