abstract This invention provides a method for treating the surface of a weld in a metal member which can efficiently and safely remove a weld burning part causative of the generation of an unnecessary gas under a vacuum atmosphere. This method is characterized in that a solution containing grinding particles is sprayed onto the weld in a metal member at a pressure of 1 MPa to 15 MPa, and the weld is subjected to electrolytic polishing, electrolytic pickling, acid cleaning using phosphoric acid, or chemical polishing.
