abstract This invention reveals a polyimide composite membrane comprising multiple layers of polyimide composite membrane and bonding layers between the polyimide composite membrane layers. The total thickness of the polyimide composite membrane Z satisfies the following formula I : mX+nY=Z, where m is the number of layers of the polyimide composite membrane, n is the number of the bonding layers, x is the thickness for each polyimide composite membrane ranging from 0.5 to 1.5mil, and Y is the thickness of the bonding layer which Y is a function of Z. The polyimide composite membrane is formed by stacking polyimide composite membranes with a thickness ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 mil and bonding layers. Optionally, the number of layers of the polyimide composite membrane and the thickness of the bonding layer can be adjusted to form specific thickness of the polyimide composite membrane. This polyimide composite membrane has the benefit of low cost and has high flatness characteristics. It is specially suitable for use during reinforcement process of soft type printed circuit board.
