abstract |
A retardation film which shows inverse dispersion, can realize an ideal retardation (λ /4 (nm)) throughout the whole visible light region even when used alone as a single sheet, and has a low photoelastic coefficient and excellent solvent resistance. The retardation film is one obtained by orienting a film made of a crosslinked polymer formed from a polymerizable composition comprising at least one monomer serving as a crosslinking-site ingredient during polymerization and at least one monomer serving as a chain-extending ingredient during polymerization. The monomer serving as a crosslinking-site ingredient during polymerization and the monomer serving as a chain-extending ingredient during polymerization comprise a monomer which forms a polymer having positive refractive-index anisotropy and a monomer which forms a polymer having negative refractive-index anisotropy, and include a monomer having an alicyclic structure. The film made of a crosslinked polymer has a tensile storage modulus (E') of 1.5OE07 Paor lower at a temperature which is higher by at least 20 DEG C than a loss tangent (tand) peak top temperature obtained through a dynamic viscoelasticity (DMA) examination. |
