abstract The present invention provides a safe and stable method for producing a hydrogenated polymer with high transparency, which is producing hydrogenated polymer by hydrogenating an aromatic ring of aromatic vinyl compound/ (meth) acrylate copolymer. In the method, the following steps are repeated once or more: (1) a solvent solution of the said copolymer is added into a reactor filling with solvent and palladium-carrying catalyst in a hydrogen atmosphere to proceed a hydrogenation reaction, wherein, calculated by copolymer, the solvent solution is 0.01 to 15 g/hr. per unit mass of the palladium-carrying catalyst; (2) hydrogenated polymer is obtained from 30 to 90 mass % of the produced reaction mixed liquid, and the residual reaction mixed liquid are remained in or returned to the reactor, and again, a new solvent solution of the copolymer is added into the reactor in a hydrogen atmosphere to proceed a hydrogenation reaction, wherein, calculated by copolymer, the solvent solution is 0.01 to 15 g/hr. per unit mass of the palladium-carrying catalyst.
