abstract To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus high in image quality without enhancing the alignment precision in the work of sticking a counter substrate to an array substrate. A spacer comprises a spacer pedestal formed on the array substrate and a spacer member formed on the spacer pedestal. The tip of the spacer member has a curved surface. The spacer pedestal is formed at a step of manufacturing the array substrate. The spacer member is formed by a reverse printing method or an ink-jet printing method.
