abstract A process for synthesizing polyamine is disclosed. The process includes providing an easy into polystyrene with primary benzyl halide as a starting material. The synthetic steps include azidation of benzyl chloride and a phosphine imination to form a polymer with phosphine imine functionality. After further acidification in aqueous solution and neutralization, the phosphine imine functionality is converted into a homo-, block, or random polyamines, respectively.
