abstract |
The present invention provides a fluorescent substance composed of β type SiAlON activated by Eu, which can achieve a light-emitting device such as white LED in high brightness by using blue to ultraviolet light as light source. A fluorescent substance is characterized in that it is expressed by the general formula Si6zAlzOzN8-z and is a fluorescent substance using β type SiAlON comprising Eu as main component, in which while measuring by electron spin resonance spectrometer, the spin density corresponding to the absorption of g= 2.00 ± 0.02 at 25 DEG C is 2.0 x10<SP>17</SP>/g or less. Moreover, the aforementioned fluorescent substance is preferred that the lattice constant a and the lattice constant c of β type SiAlON are respectively in the range of 0.7608 to 0.7620 nm and 0.2908 to 0.2920 nm, as well as the content of Eu is 0.1 to 3 mass%. |
