abstract | The objective of the present invention is to provide a discharge lamp having high emission intensity of vacuum ultraviolet light and sufficiently long lamp lifespan. The invented discharge lamp is placed inside of the discharge container to emit ultraviolet light with wavelength of 190 nm. At least a portion of the discharge container is made from a quartz glass having a fluorine content between 7000 and 30000 wt. ppm and a fictive temperature (Tf) between 750 and 1000 DEG C. As to the invented discharge lamp, the synthetic quartz glass used for forming the discharge container preferably has a fluorine content between 10000 and 30000 wt. ppm and an OH group content below 30 wt. ppm. |
