abstract |
An optically anisotropic film which comprises 50 wt.% or more styrene resin, wherein the difference in thermal shrinkage stress as measured at (Vicat softening temperature + 30 DEG C) in accordance with ASTM-D1504 between the machine direction (MD) and the transverse direction (TD) is 0.5-4.0 Mpa, the in-plane retardation is 50-1,000 nm, and the styrene resin is a polymer comprising monomer units derived from a styrene monomer and from an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and/or an unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride monomer. It is a biaxially-stretched optically-anisotropic styrene resin film excellent in optical evenness (evenness of in-plane retardation and orientation angle) and processability. |
