titleOfInvention | Composition of nano composite ion-exchange membrane and method for producing such a membrane |
abstract | The present invention provides a composition of nano composite ion-exchange membrane and a method for producing such a membrane. According to the invention, functionalized inorganic nano particles and an acid-group-carrying polyaromatic etherketone polymer form an organic/inorganic nano composite membrane in a solution. The invented method mainly comprises performing acidification or alkalination functionalization treatment on inorganic nano particles, and dispersing the treated particles in a proton-conducting substrate polymer in a polar solution, in which, functionalized inorganic solid acid or solid alkaline forms a highly compatible homogeneous material with a sulfonated polyaromatic etherketone polymer. Such a homogeneous material exhibits excellent mechanical performance, electrical conductivity, and chemical stability. Since the uniformly distributed inorganic nano particles block the permeation path of fuel, the fuel permeability is effectively reduced. The exchange membrane material is applicable on direct methanol fuel cells, proton exchange fuel cells, and other devices using proton exchange. |
