titleOfInvention Phase differential film obtained from cellulose derivatives
abstract The phase differential film of the present invention is produced from cellulose derivatives of which the hydroxyl group having substitution degree of 0.50~2.99 for each monomer unit in cellulose is substituted by an aliphatic acryl group (A) having carbon atom number 5~20. When a phase differential film which is optically biaxial satisfying nx > ny > nz (wherein , nix represents the refraction index of slow axis direction in film plane, nay represents the refraction index of the direction perpendicular to the slow axis direction in film plane, no represents the refraction index of thickness direction) is used for VA mode compensation, at the time of black display in the non-driven state of VA cell, comparing with the conventional phase differential film of cellulose, the light leakage under inclined observation which is a cause of contrast decrease can be greatly suppressed in a wide range, low brightness can be maintained, and wider viewing angle can be achieved.
