| abstract | The toothed belt is comprised of a belt-body made of a thermoplastic elastomer, cord serving as a tensioning member, and cover fabric covering the belt tooth surfaces. The production method of the toothed belt of the invention comprises forming a preshaped article of a thermoplastic elastomer, assembling the cover fabric, cord, and the preshaped article in a forming mold, press heating the assembly from the outside, and heating it from the inside of the mold at a temperature exceeding the crystallization temperature of the thermoplastic elastomer and less than the melting point of the thermoplastic elastomer for a sufficient time so as to form teeth. Further, a resin film having higher melting point than that of a thermoplastic elastomer, arranged at the outside of a cover fabric prevents seepage of the belt-body material during the molding, and protects the toothed belt after production. |
