abstract POLYSACCHARIDES EXTRACTED FROM RAY RAJA RADULA SKIN FROM THE SIA FRACTION (ALCOHOL-INSOLUBLE SUBSTANCES) BY ENZYMATIC DIGESTION OR CORRESPONDING ACID HYDROLYSIS, AFTER PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION, TO HYALURONIC ACID AND DERMATANE SULFATE. THE ANTICOAGULANT ACTIVITY OF RAJA RADULA SKIN POLYSACCHARIDES DUE TO DERMATANE SULFATE IS VERY SIGNIFICANT IN COMPARISON WITH HEPARIN. THESE POLYSACCHARIDES MAY PROVIDE MULTIPLE BIOMEDICAL AND OTHER APPLICATIONS, PARTICULARLY AS ANTICOAGULANT AND ANTITHROMBOTIC SUBSTANCES IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY BUT ALSO FOR OTHER PROPERTIES MAINLY IN THE COSMETIC AND AGRI-FOOD INDUSTRIES.
