abstract The invention relates to medicine, in particular to hepatology, and can be used for the differential diagnosis of chronic hepatitis. The aim of the invention is to improve the accuracy of the method. The method is carried out by determining the activity of short-lived lymphocyte suppressors with phytohemagglutinin in the blood. Then, the index of short-lived suppressors is determined, and when the index of short-lived suppressors is 1.6 and below, chronic active hepatitis is diagnosed, and when the index of short-lived suppressors is higher than 1.6, chronic persistent hepatitis is diagnosed.
