The treatment of abscess and phlegmon of the orbit drains the purulent focus through the lower orbital fissure using an intraoral access, in which an incision of the mucous membrane is made along the transitional fold of the posterior fornix of the mouth, and the wound canal is formed along the inner surface of the zygomatic process of the upper jaw.
