abstract The invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry, in particular to potentiometry, and can be used in the manufacture of chemical fibers, to monitor the content of sorbital in the presence of sorbitan. The purpose of the invention is to improve the selectivity and expressivity of sorbital in the presence of sorbitan. Measurements are carried out by a potentiometric method, where a film ion-selective electrode is used as an electrode for sorbital, the membrane of which contains an electrode-active substance: a complex of barium ions — sorbital — tetraphenylborate in an amount of 0,0186-0,0310 mol / kg of solvent, and sodium tetraphenylborate is used as titrant. The method makes it possible to determine the sorbital in the presence of a 3-fold excess of sorbitan without their preliminary separation in turbid and colored solutions. 3 tab. (C (L
