titleOfInvention | Method of checking substance composition of solid fuel |
abstract | This invention relates to methods for nuclear physics analysis of the composition of a substance. The purpose of the invention is the simultaneous determination of the ash content of coal and the calcium content in the ash with large ranges of their fluctuations. A sample of the fuel under study is irradiated with gamma radiation with an energy less than that of the K-absorption edge of iron, and the dependence of the intensity of the secondary radiation, attenuated by the filter, on the crowd filter is recorded. For this, a wedge-shaped variable thickness filter is moved in front of the secondary radiation detector window so that, during the measurement process, its thickness at the passage of the secondary radiation changes from zero to some maximum value. The sequence is chosen such that the intensity of the maximum radiation thickness attenuated by the filter with the maximum possible ash content of the coal does not depend on the calcium content in the ash. Then, in the family of preliminarily constructed calibration dependences of the intensity of secondary radiation on the filter thickness, each of which is strictly uniquely determined by ash and calcium content in the ash, the dependence coincides with the measured one, and thus the coal ash and calcium content in the ash are determined simultaneously . 2 Il.
