abstract The invention relates to the field of ultrasound measurements and can be used in automated control systems. The aim of the invention is to increase the speed of measuring the speed of ultrasound. A digital meter containing a probe pulse generator, emitting and receiving transducers, as well as a counter and a quartz oscillator, is additionally equipped with a decoder and a memory device from which numbers recorded during tuning of the meter are selected, corresponding to the error resulting from replacing the inversely proportional dependence of the ultrasound velocity on time passing it from. radiating transducer to the receiving transducer on a linearly decreasing dependence. The meter is also equipped with a reversible counter with presetting of a fixed code of the number corresponding to the maximum measured speed, to the subtracting input of which pulses are received from the crystal oscillator, an adder, to the inputs of which the code comes from the reversible counter and from the storage device. The output code of the adder, corresponding to the speed of ultrasound in the medium under study, is fed to a digital recorder. 1 il. with
