abstract The invention relates to heterocyclic compounds, in particular to the preparation of 5-phenylethynyl furfural (PEF) intermediate for the preparation of biologically active substances. The goal is to increase the output of FEF. The synthesis of FEF is carried out from 5-iodofurfural and copper phenyl acetilenide at boiling for 1.5-2.5 hours in pyridine in an inert gas atmosphere in the presence of triethylamine, equal in volume to pyridine.
