titleOfInvention Method and device for the manufacture of isobutyl acetate
abstract The production of isobutylacetate by esterification of acetic acid by isobutylalcohol in the presence of the solid acid catalyst with concurrent distilling separation of the components, wherein the acetic acid and isobutylalcohol are separately indicated in the molar ratio 1 : 1 to 1 : 10 and in the defined amount pre the catalyst unit into the system divided in three zones. In the reaction zone the reaction runs concurrently with distilling separation of the components. The feed of the acetic acid is led inside the reaction zone or above this zone and the feed of isobutylalcohol is led inside the reaction zone or under this zone, in the upper separation zone there is removed the elusive mixture, which is after the cooling to 5 to 80 °C separated to the aqueous and organic phases and this organic phase is returning as a reflux into the system, with the ratio between the feed of the incoming components and the reflux flow of the organic phase 1 : 1 to 1 : 20. The reflux backward flow is 5 to 100 % of the total amount from the separated organic phase and isobutylacetate is separated as higher boiling end component. Disclosed is also device for performing this process.
