An implantable device for delivering leuprolide to an ambient fluid environment comprises: (a) a reservoir with a liquid-impermeable jacket, the reservoir being provided with a piston that divides the reservoir into first and second chambers, the first and second chambers having an open end, (b) a water-swelling agent preparation in a first chamber, (c) a leuprolide preparation in the second chamber, (d) a semipermeable plug at the open end of the first chamber, and (e) a control back diffusion outlet at the open end of the second chamber; wherein the device effectively seals the second chamber and isolates the leuprolide preparation from the environment |
