The tendency to fibrillate lyocell fibers can be reduced by reacting in the non-dried state at elevated temperature with a solution of a chemical bearing more acrylamide groups when the average number of acryloamide groups in the chemical molecule in the solution is at least 2.1. The amount of chemical agent that reacts with the fiber can be in the range of 0.25 to 1% by weight, based on the weight of the air-dried fiber. The dyeing affinity of lyocell fibers can be increased by reacting in a never-dried state with a solution of a chemical agent bearing more acrylamide groups under conditions where 1 to 3 wt. of chemical agent, based on the weight of the air-dried fiber, is fixed to the fiber |
