The reaction products of polyisobutenes with nitrogen oxides or with a mixture of nitrogen oxides and oxygen are described, the polyisobutene having a mean degree of polymerization P = 10 to 100, with a proportion of E = 60 to 90% of double bonds capable of reacting with maleic anhydride, where E = 100% corresponds to a numerical theoretical value for the case where each polyisobutene molecule has a reactive double bond, suitable as an additive to fuels, especially for petrol engines and lubricants. |
