A process to correct and optimize the composition of a feed in order to increase the daily growth of animals which comprises including in the animal's feed a sufficient quantity of at least one material selected from the group consisting of sugars, sugar alcohols, amino acids and amides so that 1.0 ml of that animal's blood will contain at least 0.5 units of lectines, which in a 0.15M sodium chloride and 0.05M sodium phosphate buffer and at a pH of 7 will attach with high affinity to agarose and which will dissociate from the agarose after the addition of 1M alpha- methyl-D-glucoside. |
