abstract | There are provided nitrobenzene derivatives selected from the group containing 4-hydroxy-2'-nitrobutyrophenone and tetrahydro-2-(o-nitrophenyl)-2-furanol and/or tautomeric mixtures thereof. There is also disclosed a method for this derivative preparation in which dihydro-3-(o-nitrobenzoyl)-2(3H)furanone reacts with a proper acid selected from the group containing vitriol acid, phosphoric acid and acetic acid, optionally in the presence of an organic solvent, or, this derivative is optionally prepared by reacting the compound of the formula A, wherein R is an alkyl group with 1-4 carbons, with 2-halogenethanol of the general formula XCH2CH2OH wherein X is chlorine or bromine in the presence of an aqueous base and a phase transfer catalyst and, optionally in the presence of an organic solvent, thus obtaining 4-hydroxy-2'-nitrobutyrophenone or tetrahydro-2-(o-nitrophenyl)- -2-furanol or mixtures thereof. The derivative is used for the preparation of 4-halo-2'-nitrobutyrophenones, useful as an intermediate, in the preparation of the crop-selective herbicidal agent 1-{[o-(cyclopropylcarbonyl)phenyl]sulfamoyl}-3-(4,6- -dimethoxy-2-pyrimidinyl)urea. |
