abstract 3,9-Bis(3-methylbicyclo[2,2,1]hept-5-en-2-yl)-2,4,8,10- -tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecane of the general formula (I) is prepared by reaction of pentaerythriotol with 3-methylbicyclo- -[2,2,1]hept-5-en-2-carbaldehyde having a mole ratio 1 : 2 in at least one inert organic solvent medium in the presence of an acidic dehydrating catalyst at the boiling point of the solvent to be used or a mixture of solvents. It can be used as a non-colouring antiozonant for natural and/or synthetic caoutchoucs, individually or in combination with wax on bases of the micro-crystalline paraffin.
