titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of 3,4-dihydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde
abstract Disclosed is a method for preparation of 3,4-dihydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde by de-alkylating reaction of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde, where 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde reacts in aprotic polar solvent under the temperature of 80 to 160 C with lithium salt of aromatic mercapto compound chosen from the set comprising thiophenol and 2-mercapto-benzothiazol. Reaction is preferably performed with using an aprotic polar solvent. It is preferably carried out in an inert atmosphere.
