abstract In the present invention, there is disclosed a process for preparing (R)-N,N-diisopropyl-3-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-3-phenylpropylamine (tolterodine) of the general formula I comprising optical cleavage of racemic 3-(2-alkyloxy-5-methylphenyl)-3-phenylpropanoic acids and subsequent conversion of (R)-(+)-acid of the general formula II to tolterodine.
