Methods and compositions useful for inducing a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte response (CTL) in a human or domestic or agriculturally important animal are described. The method includes the steps of providing the antigen against which a CTL response is desired and providing an antigenic formulation comprising, consisting of, essentially or consisting essentially of two or more of the stabilizing detergent, the micelles and oil forming agent. This antigen formulation preferably has no immunostimulatory peptide component or has sufficiently low levels of such a component in order to avoid the desired CTL response. The formulation is provided as a stable oil-in-water emulsion |
