titleOfInvention DIMENSIONAL PIEZOUPOROVNI SENSOR PRESSURE WITH A FREE STOJECO MEMBRANE
abstract The thick-layer piezo-resistive pressure sensor with a free-standing membrane is designed so that the membrane in the housing is supported on one side by a support ring made of hard material determining the diameter of the active membrane surface and sealed with an elastic seal on the other side. The seal is in the form of a ring of the same diameter as the support ring, so that the rings together form a flexible membrane clamp, in which the deformation of the membrane during clamping is negligible under compressive loading and malespecific deformations of the membrane are greatest in its central part. In the area of the largest deformations, two thick-layer resistors with pronounced piezo-resistance properties are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the membrane. Under compressive loading, two resistors stretch and two contract, causing the resistance of the former to increase and the resistance of the latter to decrease. All four resistors are connected to the Wheatstone bridge via conductor lines and connection pads. With such a construction, at the same pressure load, the mechanical deformations in the area where the thick-layer resistors are located are greater than in the case when the membrane is rigidly clamped in the support, which enables greater pressure sensitivity of the sensor.
